Walkie Desk

Remote support for your customers, with nothing to install

A customer calls because something is not working? With Walkie Desk QuickSupport they download a small program, run it without installing it, read you the ID and password, and within a minute you are on their PC. You work from the browser.

What the customer does

  1. Download and run QuickSupport

You give them the address walkiedesk.app/help: the customer downloads WalkieDesk-QuickSupport.exe and opens it. It does not ask to install anything and needs no account.

  2. Give you the ID and password

The window shows a 9-digit ID and a 6-character password, which the customer reads to you over the phone or in person.

  3. Accept the connection

When you connect, the customer sees your name and the session starts only if they press «Allow».

What you do

Sign in at walkiedesk.app, open «Quick support», choose «Give support» and enter the ID and password. As soon as the customer allows it, you see their screen in the browser and work with keyboard, mouse, clipboard, files and folders; with the chat you write to each other and with «Call» or «Video call» (in beta) you talk without needing the phone: on the customer’s PC the call opens in a browser page, once they have answered. If you need to hear a sound from the PC (an alert, a video, speakers that do not work), turn on «PC audio». When you need to act on Windows prompts that require administrator rights, the customer can restart QuickSupport as administrator.

For customers you support often, it is worth installing Walkie Desk on their PCs and pairing them with your account: you reach them even when nobody is there. See unattended remote access.

If the customer already has Walkie Desk installed (for Windows, Linux or Mac, from version 0.10.0) but their PC is not in your account, they read you the ID and password shown in the Walkie Desk app and you choose «Connect with ID»: the person at the PC confirms the connection, as with QuickSupport. See remote access with ID and password.

What support costs

Nothing for the customer: QuickSupport is free and needs no account. The technician uses their own seat, as for any other session: one connected technician, with up to 3 PCs open at once. With the Personal plan, free for personal and non-commercial use, you can help up to 5 different PCs in the last 30 days, with QuickSupport or with ID and password. Details on the Pricing page.

Walkie Desk is in beta: during the beta, anyone who signs up for professional use receives 2 complimentary seats, with no expiry for the whole beta and free for a further 6 months after it ends; for personal use there is the free Personal plan. It is an experimental service, which may have interruptions and change.

Frequently asked questions

Does the customer need an account or to install anything?

No. The customer downloads QuickSupport from walkiedesk.app/help and runs it: it does not install and needs no account. Only the technician needs an account.

What is left on the customer’s PC after the session?

When the window is closed, QuickSupport quits and deletes everything it had prepared on the computer. Only the downloaded file, which can be deleted, and the traces Windows keeps of every program it runs are left.

Which systems does QuickSupport run on?

Today on 64-bit Windows 10 (version 2004 or later) and Windows 11. For Linux PCs and, in beta, Macs you install Walkie Desk from the Download page.
