Control your PC from your phone or tablet
You are out and need a file on the office PC, or a customer calls while you are away from your desk? With Walkie Desk you open the PC from the browser of your phone or tablet and use it with your fingers.
Today: from your phone’s browser
Sign in at walkiedesk.app with Safari on iPhone and iPad or with Chrome on Android, choose the PC and connect as you would from a computer. The PC to be reached is the usual one: Windows, Linux or, in beta, Mac, with Walkie Desk installed and paired with your account, or a Windows PC running QuickSupport.
Gestures
Your finger works like a laptop touchpad: slide it anywhere and the pointer moves, so you point precisely even on a phone. A tap clicks where the pointer is, a two-finger tap is a right click, tap and drag to move things; spread two fingers to zoom in and scroll with two fingers. If you prefer, direct touch clicks where you tap.
On-screen keyboard
The «Keyboard» button opens the phone keyboard and a bar with lockable Esc, Tab, Ctrl, Alt, Shift and Win, arrows and Del.
Full screen
Full screen on iPad and Android; «full page» on iPhone. You can add Walkie Desk to the Home Screen.
Clipboard, files and chat
Paste your phone’s text on the PC and copy the PC’s text. With Windows, Linux and Mac PCs and with QuickSupport, in the “Files” panel you send the PC files chosen on your phone and save the PC’s files on your phone, one by one; with the chat you write to the person at the PC.
The apps
The Walkie Desk app for Android is on Google Play (Android 12 or later); the iPhone and iPad app is in testing. The apps are free, are used to sign in and connect to PCs, and use the same account and security as the browser.
Good to know
- A phone screen is small: for long jobs a tablet or a computer is more comfortable.
- The phone keyboard has no F1 to F12 keys or AltGr; with a physical keyboard attached to a tablet some shortcuts stay with the browser.
- If you leave the browser or lock the phone, the phone suspends the page and the video stops: when you come back the session reconnects, sometimes after reloading the page.
- Controlling Android smartphones and tablets from the PC is in development: today you control PCs.
- Voice and video calls with the person at the PC are made from a computer for now: they are not available from phones and tablets yet.
The same security
From the phone too you need the account with the second factor, the phone’s browser has to be approved the first time and sessions are end-to-end encrypted. Details on the Security page.
Walkie Desk is in beta: during the beta, anyone who signs up for professional use receives 2 complimentary seats, with no expiry for the whole beta and free for a further 6 months after it ends; for personal use there is the free Personal plan. It is an experimental service, which may have interruptions and change.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an app to control my PC from my phone?
No: today the browser is enough, Safari on iPhone and iPad or Chrome on Android. The Android app is on Google Play and uses the same account; the iPhone and iPad app is in testing.
Can I control my phone from the PC?
Not yet. Walkie Desk controls Windows, Mac and Linux PCs; control of Android devices is in development.
Does the phone need to be approved?
Yes. Like any new browser, the first time the phone’s browser must be approved with a passkey or from a browser you have already approved. On iPhone, the icon added to the Home Screen counts as a separate browser.
